The Legislative Committee on Education will meet on Wednesday March 26th at 9:00 AM. The meeting will take place in Las Vegas and will also be videoconferenced to Carson City. Public comments will be allowed during this meeting - this is your chance to get on record regarding the Common Core State Standards!

The Common Core State Standards remain problematic and worrisome; it is a "one-size-fit-all" federally-mandated curriculum that delegates what K-12 students will  study, and if there is one proven factor that remains regarding several decades of increased federal interference in education is that these top-down programs inflict an incredible burden on state and local governments with deprived results. Nevada does not need more federal mandates, Nevadans needs more academic freedom to decide how best to educate our own children.

Learn About The Gross Margins Tax

During last Thursday’s meeting, many of our members wanted additional information on the Gross Margins Tax which will appear on the November ballot as the Education Initiative.

The first web link is the specific language from the initiative:

The second web link provides clarifying information on what we must do to inform all voters about the destructive nature of this initiative.  There are specific facts as well as a donation form in the link.  When I attended the Chamber of Commerce luncheon devoted to stopping this gross margins tax/education initiative; the speakers encouraged everyone to sign the form and send it in as soon as possible whether a donation was made or not.
